The U.S. Postal Inspection Service announced this week it is offering a reward of up to $50,000 to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of two suspects involved in an armed robbery at the Waccabuc Post Office.
The robbery took place Tuesday, Jan. 10, at approximately 4:30 p.m.
According to a reward poster circulated by the Postal Inspection Service, one suspect is described as a “Black man in his late 20s to early 30s who is approximately 6-feet 1-inch tall with a dark complexion.” He was wearing an orange reflective vest, a dark-colored beanie hat, and large dark sunglasses on the day of the theft. The other suspect is described as “a Black man in his late 20s to early 30s who is approximately 5-foot 7-inches with a medium complexion,” wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and a dark-colored winter hat during the robbery.
The Postal Inspection Service said in the poster, “Witnesses described two suspects with silver firearms.”
Daniela Lella, a postal inspector in the New York division of the Postal Inspector Service, declined to provide further details of the robbery, saying the investigation was still ongoing.
Ms. Lella also declined to comment on whether the suspects were wanted in connection with other post office robberies in the area.
One unconfirmed news report stated that, upon entering the Waccabuc Post Office, the two suspects demanded money and left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Anyone with information should call the Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455 and reference case No. 3948135-ROBB. All calls will be kept confidential.
Those who are able to identify the suspects are reminded to not take any action against them.
