William Andrew Dunn of South Salem died on April 19 at his son’s home in Trumbull, Connecticut. He was 87,

He was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, to the late James and Lillian Dunn. He served in the Army during the Korean War and continued his service until he was honorably discharged as a sergeant from the U.S. Reserve in 1962. 

After his military service, Mr. Dunn enjoyed a 30-year career with Bell Telephone and retired as technology manager for the NYNEX Corporation in 1992. 

During his retirement, he enjoyed watch collecting, building and sailing model boats, and traveling to such destinations as Alaska, the Caribbean island of Jost Van Dyke, and Bermuda.

He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Westfall Dunn, and his sister, Virginia Griffin. He is survived by three children, Debra Malinovsky (Robert) of Poughkeepsie, James Dunn (Janet) of South Salem and Craig Dunn (Magda) of Trumbull, Connecticut, as well as two grandchildren and a sister, Lois Dawson of Southbury, Connecticut.

Services will be private, with interment in South Salem Cemetery.
