Henry “Hank” Strickrodt, a longtime South Salem resident, died Jan. 13. He was 94.
He was born Nov. 6, 1928, to Henry and Anni (Kampmeier) Strickrodt, in the Bronx, where he spent his childhood. He was married to his late wife, Joan (Wolf), in 1951.
The couple moved to South Salem in 1960 after building a home on Lake Oscaleta. Mr. Strickrodt was a longtime volunteer of the Twin Lakes Water Works and Two Lakes Club.
He worked for General Electric as a distributions manager and later at Black+Decker, before retiring in the early 1980s.
He also was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves based at Fort Schuyler.
After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. During summers, the couple relaxed on their dock on the lake in Twin Lakes Village, enjoying swimming, fishing and boating with their family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Mark Strickrodt, two grandchildren, and three great-grandsons.
Friends and family were received Saturday, Jan. 21, at Kane Funeral Home, located at 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, Connecticut. Interment was private.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 694, Cross River, NY 10518 or at lewisborovac.org.
