New bat houses thanks to Eagle Scout

Logan Aceste, a senior at John Jay High School, designed, built and installed 12 bat houses in Lewisboro parks for his Eagle Scout project. Over the course of 11 months and with help from his fellow Vista Troop 101 scout volunteers, Scout Master Thomas Fuller and Eagle Scout mentor, Rich Healy, Logan completed his project in an effort to draw bats into the parks, where they eat up to 1,000 mosquitos a day and are essential to the ecosystem.

Logan accepted a scholarship to Iowa State’s Engineering School and will study aerospace engineering in the fall. He was also recently awarded the Peter T. McCauley Memorial Scholarship, which was given to one student in Westchester County.
